How is Vera free?

Vera is free today and free forever for the guidance layer. As Banking launches, we’ll earn revenue the way modern banks do—through interchange, deposits, and premium banking services—but never by selling your data or charging you subscriptions for the core product. Your financial life gets better, and we get paid when your wealth grows.

Vera is a financial technology company, not a bank. Vera is not FDIC-insured. Funds may be held for your benefit by First Federal Bank of Kansas City, Member FDIC.

Funds in custodial accounts may be eligible for FDIC insurance coverage on a pass-through basis, subject to certain regulatory requirements and conditions being met (for example, proper recordkeeping and ownership identification). FDIC insurance only protects against the failure of an FDIC-insured bank; it does not protect against losses due to fraud, theft, market events, or Vera’s operations.

FDIC insurance coverage is subject to the standard insurance limits — currently up to $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, for each account ownership category. Your total coverage depends on your relationship with the bank and the aggregate balances you hold there, including through other accounts you may maintain directly with the same bank.
